Steven first became a REALTOR® in 1992 in Edmonton. From 1999 to 2009 he took time away to to a 9-5 job which allowed him more time to be a father to his three children. During his time away Steven worked in High Tech. First as a salesperson, but later as a manager and V.P of sales and marketing. He uses his experience in two of Canada’s fastest growing web based companies to leverage the internet to give our clients a competitive advantage. When he is not working Steven loves Yoga, Travel and being around family.


Steven was the #1 REALTOR® at Century 21 before leaving and in his first full year at RE/MAX he established that honour there too. Steven was inducted into the RE/MAX International Hall of fame after just 16 months with the company. This is by far the fastest on record in our region. In 2013 he became the first REALTOR® for any company to be inducted into the Million Dollar Guild which is an international award given for excellence in marketing homes over $1m. He is a firm believer in systems and has developed techniques to sell any home from a small apartment to a lakeshore mansion fast for top dollar.


 

Q & A with Steven

 

Why did you decide to be a REALTOR®?

Answer

I came to Canada after a career in the British Special Forces. I was offered a job in Toronto as a bodyguard for a top bank executive, but decided that was not for me. So I bought a book on sales which was written by Tom Hopkins a REALTOR® and jumped on the plane to Edmonton. By the time I landed I had decided what I would do!


What is the best part of your career as a REALTOR®?

Answer

I like that I can use all of my skills and experience to help my clients out and every day has fresh challenges and opportunity unlike any that came before.


What is the thing you dislike most as a REALTOR®?

Answer

Nothing really. It used to be unreasonable or rude clients. About .01% of the population cannot be pleased no matter how hard you try. However, now I am established I can politely decline their business! The best part of my client base is that I work with the other 99.9% of people who really make our long hours and huge investment rewarding in every way!


What is the funniest thing that you can tell us about you have encountered as a REALTOR®?

Answer

I honestly cannot tell you my top 3! We see some crazy things in this job but I always decline to talk about them.


Favourite Book, Food & Movie?

Answer

I love non-fiction, I am PASSIONATE about sales, marketing, psychology and business books. I still read every day for at least 30 minutes to help me find an edge. I love Indian food, but since I recently started living alone, I have found I like to cook Italian! My favourite movie is Good Will Hunting, RIP Robin Williams! However, I love any movie that can make me laugh, cry or think and still have me thinking the next day!


If you could have one superpower to help you do your job better what would it be?

Answer

I am tempted to say mind reader, but I read people very well already and that super power may take some of the fun out of my job. Maybe the ability to see inside homes anywhere anytime from my office. That would save me a LOT of time!


In ten words or less what would you like your clients to say about you to their friends, co-workers and family?

Answer

He genuinely cares, and gave us a measurable meaningful advantage.
